The Prayer of Prophet Musa (Quran 20:25-28; Surat Taha)
One of the most essential days in a Muslim’s life.
It makes me very happy to see different pages on Facebook trying to remind people of the essence of Friday in their life. They try to help people out in reading the Hadith and exposing the Sunnah which we need to do and follow.
And I wanted to paste a few things from these Facebook pages and compile them and spread the word out.
Don’t forget to read Surah Kahf today, It’s sunnah… But do not singling it 🙂 ~ Read Quran everyday as you need oxygen each second.
“Whoever reads Soorat al-Kahf on the day of Jumu’ah, will have a light that will shine from him from one Friday to the next.”
[Narrated by al-Haakim, 2/399; al-Bayhaqi, 3/249. It was classed as saheeh by Shaykh al-Albaani in Saheeh al-Jaami’, 6470]

The Prophet -sallAllâhu ‘alaihi wassallam- said: “Friday is the master of days, and the greatest of them before Allâh. It is greater before Allâh than the day of al-Adha and the day of al-Fitr. It has five charact
1. On this day Allâh created Adam -‘alaihissallam, 2. On it He sent Adam -‘alaihissallam- down to the earth, 3. On it Allâh caused Adam -‘alaihissallam- to die, 4. On it there is a time when a person does not ask Allâh for anything but He gives it to him, so long as he does not ask for anything haraam, and 5. On it the Hour will begin.
There is no angel who is close to Allâh, no heaven, no earth, no wind, no mountain and no sea that does not fear Friday.”

A calamity could be anything from a death of a dear one or a natural disaster coming our way. Anything that could bring some kind of terrible loss, a severe affliction, tragedy, a long lasting disaster or some kind of distress. Hurricanes, floods, strong winds, tornadoes, deaths, heart broken, sickness, divorce.. are just a part of a calamity.
“War. Famine. Suffering. Not a day goes by that the evening news does not report horrific stories of humanity in despair, and of worldwide misery. On a more personal level, many of us have been stricken with grief and depression in our day to day lives. A loved one passes away. A financial downturn. A cheating spouse. ” – http://www.islamreligion.com/articles/1803/viewall/
So what should we do when a calamity hits us ?
Our Prophet Muhammed (Allah have mercy on him) said:
“The strong believer is better and more beloved to Allah, than the weak believer and there is goodness in both.”
Hence, we should try to strive for that which will benefit you, seek help from Allah and do not despair. And if in this a mishap should befall on you then we shouldn’t despair, or curse our faith and think to ourselves “If only I had acted…such and such would have happened.”
Rather, we should say:
“Allah has decreed and what He wills, He does.”
…for verily (the word) ‘IF’ lets in the work of the devil.
Dua when struck with a calamity or when unable to do something
innaa lillaahi wa innaa ilayhi raaji‛oon, allaahumma ajurnee fee muṣeebatee, wakhluf lee khayran minhaa
“To Allah we belong and unto Him is our return. O Allah, recompense me for my affliction and replace it for me with something better.”
*Whoever says this supplication Allah will replace it for him with something better (as mentioned by the messenger of Allah)
A compilation of Duas I can find and upload them here
